AntiVirus

The AntiVirus service assists you to protect your network from infection from Virus's.

This service implements 'hooks' into a virus protection package installed on the MultiNet Server. Whenever an email is received in the MultiNet Server the email can be passed through the virus package to verify that it is not infected.

Should an infection be detected the AntiVirus service will delete the email and it will not be distributed to the recipient. In addition to logging the presence of the virus, MultiNet can inform:

• the sender of the email (internal)
• the sender of the email (external)
• any internal recipients
• a nominated individual

The messages sent to any of the above can be pre-defined by a MultiNet administrator. Should an individual be nominated to receive notifications, then the virus infected file can be forwarded to this person for further investigation.

MultiNet can be configured to check all email or only certain categories of email (email received from the Internet, externally destined email and/or internal email.

When used in conjunction with the core MultiNet Web to Email facilities, the AntiVirus Service can also protect against virus infected material which is downloaded from the Internet. All background downloads can be checked for viruses before the downloaded file is released to the user who requested it.

• Total Virus Defense
• Sophos
• AVG
