Fax Gateway

The Fax Gateway is a MultiNet Installable Service which enables all MultiNet users to send and receive faxes via email.

This service requires a SINGLE copy of WinFax Pro version 10 to be installed on the MultiNet Server

Any email sent to an address in the format: name@number ( ie: Robert.Hickingbotham@08708000809 ) is automatically sent via fax.

Any fax received may optionally be sent via email to a nominated distribution point.

As the Fax gateway is fully integrated with the MultiNet mail system, any email address anywhere in the system ( in forwarding lists, LDAP directories etc.) may be a fax address. Email sent to a mailing list may be distrubuted by email to certain recipients but by fax to others. The sender of the email is not aware of the distribution mechanism.

Email attachments are automatically rendered using their associated application and added to the Fax. The body, subject and sender of the email are rendered on the Fax cover sheet. Users prepare emails as usual. There is no need to learn obscure rules or become familiar with another application.

• automatic notifications of a Fax dispatch returned to the sender by email
• use of the Fax service may be restricted to nominated individuals or open to all
• any cover sheet designed in WinFax Pro may be used by the Fax Gateway
• received Faxes may be automatically emailed to a user or external recipient. Fax pages are rendered in standard bitmap form for easy viewing

It is possible to use the same modem for both fax and internet access. However, for optimum performance it is recomended that a second modem is installed on the MultiNet server for fax usage.
