Net Directory

Now with full Outlook XP support

The Net directory service implements a fully functional LDAP (Lightweight Directory Access Protocol) server which can be used to provide information about MultiNet accounts to users on your local network.

Most popular email clients support LDAP as a means of sharing address books and also to automatically resolving 'real' names into email addresses.

When the Net Directory service is installed, users of LDAP compliant email clients can email "John Smith" or even just "John" and the Net Directory service will automatically resolve the name into an email address

In addition to providing information about internal users, the Net Directory Service can be used to share external contact information. Contacts can be manually setup in MultiNet or automatically captured from email entering your organisation. Autocapture rules can be defined so that contact lists are only built from email arriving at certain mailboxes.

There is no limit to the number of external address books that can be maintained. Access to an address book can be open to all your users or restricted to particular individuals.

Note: In order to use the Net Directory service, email clients must be set up to address MultiNet as an LDAP server. Instructions are contained in the help text for setting up Outlook 2000 and Outlook Express.
